The refrigerant R407F gas is an HFC refrigerant commonly used in low- and medium-temperature refrigeration systems. R407F is an ideal, energy-efficient refrigerant with a low GWP that can be used as a replacement in R404A and R407A systems. R22 can also be replaced with R407F after an oil change. However, the GWP of R407F is relatively high at 1825.
R407F is in many ways comparable to R22 but requires fewer equipment modifications than other R22 alternatives (source: bock.de).
R407F gas applications and use
R407F is suitable for refrigeration in industrial, commercial and transport applications.
Alternative refrigerants to R407F gas
R407F gas can be replaced with R407A, for example. Main advantages of R407F:
Reduced carbon dioxide emissions
The GWP of R407F is around 50% lower than that of R404A (3,922) and lower than that of many other refrigerants.
Energy cost savings
Under research conditions, R407F produced an energy saving of 8% compared with R404A. Savings of almost 15% have also been confirmed in other similar tests (Honeywell).
Compatible with current refrigeration systems
Using R407F in current systems requires only minor modifications.
Refrigerant generally approved by compressor manufacturers
R407F is a refrigerant generally approved by manufacturers of compressors, valves and other refrigeration components. In terms of handling, there are very few differences from R404A.
