R410A gas is an HFC refrigerant blend for light / stationary air-conditioning units and heat pumps. Thanks to its temperature glide, it is also suitable for some centrifugal compressors.
R410A gas applications and use
R410A gas is suitable for new high-pressure systems, such as water-cooling equipment, cabinet units, close control units and cooling devices in comfort air-conditioning systems. The refrigerant is used in many commercial and industrial refrigeration applications.
The drawbacks of R410A include its high compression pressure and degree of superheat.
The EU F-gas Regulation restricts the use of refrigerants with a GWP > 2,500 for servicing and maintenance purposes from 1 January 2020. The Regulation also imposes restrictions on the GWP values of refrigerants used in certain applications. However, the use of refrigerants with a GWP above 2,500 is prohibited only in domestic refrigerators and freezers. This means that the refrigerant R410A gas can still be used freely in air-conditioning equipment.
Alternative refrigerants to R410A gas
Replacements include R452B, R454B and 455A.
