R434A gas (RS45) is a non-flammable HFC blend used to replace R22 in low-, medium- and high-temperature refrigeration applications. Because of its high GWP (3245), its future use hangs in the balance.
R434A gas has a low temperature glide, which makes it an ideal gas for OEMs that have problems with the glide of R407C. It is also suitable for use in flooded systems. R434A gas works with all types of oil, including mineral oil (although POE is recommended). When replacing R22, this refrigerant does not require any changes to system components. (For reference, system design should always be considered on a case-by-case basis).
