The R507A refrigerant gas is an azeotropic HFC blend. It has replaced the refrigerant R502 in low- and medium-temperature applications. R507A has a wide range of applications and is also suitable for flooded evaporator systems. It has good heat transfer properties in condensation.
Owing to its high GWP value, however, a rapid end to the use of R507A has been called for (AREA, ASERCOM, EFCTC, EPEE), as in the case of the refrigerant R404A. If use continues, there is a risk of ongoing price increases and a further decline in the availability of HFC refrigerants.
From the beginning of 2020, new R507A systems will be banned, as it will no longer be permitted to build stationary refrigeration units using a refrigerant with a GWP > 2,500. (EU F-gas Regulation No 517/2014). Recycled R507A: use for servicing purposes is permitted until the end of 2030. See also R404A.
R507A refrigerant gas applications and use
R507A refrigerant gas has been used in commercial refrigeration equipment, refrigeration and freezing systems, ice rink systems and heat pumps.
